FibreMax has supplied thousands of cables to crawler crane manufacturer LIEBHERR in recent years, including for the latest impressive addition to its portfolio, the massive LR1800-1.0 model.
FibreMax cables are used to operate the movable parts of the lifting device of the crane – known in the industry as ‘fly-jibs’. Since FibreMax cables are significantly lighter and stronger than traditional steel cables, this provides several major benefits: the lower weight of the overall crane construction also reduces the counterweight requirement, coupled with added hoisting capacity.
Crane manufacturer model LIEBHERR has once again chosen FibreMax cables for its massive LR1800-1.0 model, the latest addition to its portfolio. Currently the largest crane in the world, this 800-tonne piece of ingenuity is designed, among other things, for the installation of wind turbines of up to 200 (!) metres in size and for the performance of maintenance work on wind farms. This video on the FibreMax website shows the mechanics of this process.
