Greenport West-Holland launches Fieldlab against food waste

Greenport West-Holland has launched the Fieldlab to Prevent Food Waste, in which students and entrepreneurs work together on innovative solutions to reduce food waste in the chain. The project is supported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

The Fieldlab is part of the Greenport West-Holland Innovation Pact and connects students from Inholland University of Applied Sciences and Lentiz Education Group, among others, to companies analyzing waste in the food chain and processing residual flows into valuable products. The students work on product development, market research, process technology and business cases.

The initiative is set up in collaboration with regional partners such as Duijvestijn Tomaten, Wageningen Food & Biobased Research and Dutch Fresh Port Campus. By using existing facilities such as laboratories and innovation hubs, the Fieldlab contributes to a more sustainable food chain and offers entrepreneurs concrete tools to reduce food waste.
