Hiram Claus reinforces the NPM Capital investment team; increased focus on the Belgian market in the coming years
On 1 October 2020, Hiram Claus (40) started as Investment Director at investment company NPM Capital. With his transfer, NPM intends to increase its focus on the Belgian market in the coming years, where, currently, it is active via its participation in the company BD Myshopi.
‘In Belgium, there are countless opportunities for a long-term investor such as NPM, which, like my previous employer, Cobepa, is a financially robust party with a “familial entrepreneurial spirit” and flexible investment horizon’, explains Hiram Claus. ‘Traditionally, the country has many family businesses that are looking to scale up and expand internationally. In the further development of such intended growth phase, NPM can – via majority or minority stakes as well as active support – be of significant added value to them. I am thrilled to now be part of NPM Capital. It has a rock-solid investment reputation that sets it apart from the rest, and this will appeal to many Belgian businesses.’
In line with its investment strategy in the Netherlands, NPM Capital will also focus on businesses in Belgium that are active in the issues of the future, such as the Future of Energy, Everything is Digital, Feeding the World and Healthy Life. NPM currently holds an investment portfolio of 26 participations.
Hiram Claus has extensive experience in M&A and private equity. His prior work experience includes 13 years at the Belgian investment company Cobepa, most recently as Senior Director and member of the investment committee. He was involved in different transactions in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg and was a member of various supervisory boards. Hiram is a Belgian citizen, and he and his girlfriend have two children.
