The InfraTech trade fair in Ahoy between January 17th and 20th, 2023, was a major success for ICT Group. The company presented to visitors, among other things, its Physical Twin solution combined with mixed reality solution HoloNXT.
Physical Twin combined with mixed reality
The Physical Twin is a scale model ‘replica’ of the real object. The addition of a scale model renders the behaviour of the entire object visible. This lets clients, operators and other users to gain knowledge of a system and its behaviour without burdening the actual object. This also saves energy, prevents unnecessary wear on moving parts, and errors can be corrected before the object is put into use.
But it doesn't stop there. By combining the Digital Twin with the HoloLens, it becomes possible to visualise a control room. This allow software to be tested before the object is built, increasing quality and reducing development time. For example, the press of a button can generate a bridge that can be opened in a 3D experience.
